The Vision of a Champion by Anson Dorrance and Gloria Averbuch, THE TRUE CHALLENGE

“There are times it isn’t fun. But if you can remember how fun it is when you do reach your goal- when you get fit, or healthy, or master a skill, or find the right team- that’s what’s important,”(Dorrance 89). Everyone seems to think that its hard work every day until you reach your goal then it becomes harder but what people fail to understand is the fact that you’ve gone beyond your expectations and your ability. If it gets harder, it’ll be just a bigger challenge. It is important to know that nothing is beyond your reach, and nothing is too hard or too far for you to get to. If everyone woke up every day with that same kind of understanding of life, we’d be blown away. When you don’t make a team, or fail to ace a test it’s just the beginning and failure can be the building blocks that lead you to success. Be the difference in the game, and be the margin of victory.

Hallie vs. Codi

What one person sets out to do is what another person accomplishes unknowingly. What one person understands another person struggles to figure out. These ideas are represented in the book “Animals Dreams”. Codi is more familiar to a stranger than she is to herself; she finds it difficult to be someone when her sister is not there to guide her down the right path. All throughout her life she and her sister have had to live without a mother. Hallie is caring and adventurous, she likes to do what nobody’s done, and she likes to help those who can’t help themselves. Hallie moves to Nicaragua, knowingly understanding the situation. She walks into a place seeing hope and improvement, which is what most people can’t see. Codi has been searching her whole life to find a place she can call home, where she can be in peace with herself. Grace might be a town out in the middle of nowhere, but it became the town Codi was ever so desperately searching for. Many people live their whole life not knowing that what their searching for is directly in front of them. Codi is shy, and when she became a teacher it was difficult for her to teach and tell the students what she wanted to say. In the end, she was looked up to by many students, teachers, friends and family. Hallie is the kind of person who is home anywhere she goes, which is difficult for most and talent of Hallie’s. Animal Dreams teaches you many lessons that most haven’t learned or have even heard of.

The Vision of a Champion: By Anson Dorrance and Gloria Averbuch

Great success doesn’t develop in a day or a week or a month, great success is what comes of a person who fails repeatedly and still tries again to achieve their goal. In the book, “The Vision of a Champion” they continually talk about how soccer is a sport that requires practice and with practice comes a freedom and confidence that is amazing which builds to success. I agree with the author’s position, because I’ve lived what she recounts to me in this book. I believe that to become a champion is a challenge we would all like to achieve but in the end, some will be winners and others will have lost but to those who have lost they have learned something far greater than those who have won. What sets you apart from others is what makes you great to begin with. Failure is success, always has been always will be.

Intro/ The Shape Shifter in us all: Kindness

Hi, my name is Emma. One charateristic that describes me is kindness. Being kind is not hard, and it does not require practice or effort. It’s surprising to me that people find it so strenuous. I feel that being kind is a responsibility of everyone so that you feel good and so do others. I like to do helpful things for other people but would prefer if I was not recognized for the things I do. If someone is having a bad day, I lend them a helping hand. In doing so I guarantee someone will be there for me when it’s my turn and I have a bad day. Take for example when my friend lost her mother, I was there for her so that she knew she wasn’t alone. Being kind is not hard but understand that kindness can lead to the gateway of greatness.
