I read New "Sea Monster" Species Identified. As we stumbled upon pieces of our past, clues had to be put together to unravel its mysteries. Fortunately the fossils of a sea monster have finally been able to be identified. This particular sea monster is a reptile and is called a Nichollsia borealis. Scientists say that it is one of the oldest and most complete plesiosaur fossils in North America. As one might ask a plesiosaur was a carnivorous reptile that existed between the dates of around 205 million to 65 million years ago. Surprisingly these fossils were found by mine workers in about 200 feet deep of a surface mine in Alberta in 1994. When these fossils were found, they were intact unlike some of the previous fossils in this category that were found in more scattered like ways. Just recently scientists ran a 3-D CT scan of its braincase, which was able to provide much necessary information towards their discovery. Yes something like this will provide a glimpse of their past, and the more discoveries we make the further progress in history we will go.
