Currently the US Bomber Fleet is made up of the B-52 (which can carry a wider range of weapons and fly longer without refueling than any other bomber made) the Air Force also has the supersonic B-1B (which flies at low altitudes and flies at high speeds but only carries non-nuclear weapons) and finally the B-2 (which can carry either nuclear or conventional weapons and is today’s only stealth bomber.) On the verge of arriving is the next generation bomber which is coming out in 2018. The new bomber can carry between 14,000-28,000 pounds of payload. The new craft can carry air-to-air missiles for self-defense. It can even fly at the center of a wolf pack. They are still debating on whether or not to make the plane manned or unmanned. If they do not have a pilot it could extend the length of missions but there will be a large debate between those who find it necessary and those who are scared of robots being in charge of nuclear capability.
